Q: WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO DRINK MUSCLE MILK®?
A: Muscle Milk® should be consumed as directed on the label. Muscle Milk can be consumed before workouts, after workouts, first thing in the morning or prior to bedtime. In addition, Muscle Milk can be used as a meal replacement when you are on the go or as a high protein snack during the day. But, keep in mind that individual nutritional requirements vary depending on gender, body weight, level of activity and exercise/training intensity and duration. So, it is best to use Muscle Milk as part of a well-balanced diet that includes whole foods and other protein sources. We do not recommend Muscle Milk be used as your sole source of nutrition.
Q: WHO CAN DRINK MUSCLE MILK?
A: The short answer is Muscle Milk can be used by almost anyone that is not allergic to dairy proteins. Plenty of athletes drink Muscle Milk because they may have increased protein requirements, but it is fine for anyone that wants to supplement their protein intake. The proteins in Muscle Milk may be especially helpful when you are:
- starting a new exercise program and trying to build muscle
- increasing the intensity of your work-outs
- a vegetarian (that consumes dairy) and does not get enough protein from dietary sources
Q: ARE YOUR PRODUCTS CERTIFIED KOSHER?
A: All flavors of Muscle Milk, Muscle Milk Light and Muscle Milk Collegiate ready-to-drink products are certified Kosher by the Orthodox Union and this is indicated by the symbol on all labels. Currently, CytoSport powder drink mixes and bars are not Kosher certified.
Q: IS MUSCLE MILK LACTOSE FREE?
A: Muscle Milk is formulated to be suitable for people with lactose sensitivity. In a serving of Muscle Milk, tests show there is no lactose detected. The protein sources we use for our products are carefully processed and filtered to remove lactose.
Q: WHY DO YOU USE ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS IN SOME OF YOUR PRODUCTS?
A: We use artificial sweeteners because, when used at very low amounts, they provide a similar level of sweetness as natural sugars but without added calories or carbohydrates. All artificial sweeteners are regulated by the Food and Drug Administration. If you prefer to avoid artificial sweeteners then you should try naturally flavored Muscle Milk Light ready-to-drinks or Muscle Milk Naturals powder.
Q: IS IT OKAY TO DRINK THE PRODUCT IF IT IS PAST THE BEST BY DATE?
A: The best by date specifies the period of time which a product can be stored under specific conditions and remain optimal for consumption. This date corresponds to the physical attributes of the product. Many manufacturers use best by dating to inform the consumer of optimal shelf life on specific products stored under appropriate storage conditions.
Q: DO THE PRODUCTS CONTAIN ANY ALLERGENS?
A: All CytoSport products follow the allergen labeling requirements required by the Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act of 2004 (FALCPA). FALCPA requires manufacturers to identify the eight major allergenic foods or food groups which are: milk, eggs, fish, Crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, or soybeans. All CytoSport products list allergens immediately after the ingredient list. The majority of our products contain ingredients derived from milk and soy. Because product formulations can change, we encourage persons with food allergies to check the ingredient statement on each package for the most current allergen information.
Q: CAN I USE YOUR PRODUCTS TO GAIN WEIGHT?
A: Strategies to gain weight should focus on eating more calories (from a balanced diet that can include CytoSport products used as directed) than you expend and exercising to build muscle mass. Exercise in combination with consuming Muscle Milk or Muscle Milk Gainer, may help you consume enough calories to aid in weight gain.
Q: CAN I USE YOUR PRODUCTS TO HELP LOSE WEIGHT?
A: The smartest way to lose weight is to combine regular exercise with a reduction in calorie intake. Many CytoSport products, including Muscle Milk Light can be a part of a calorie-reduced, balanced diet (which should also include whole foods and other protein sources).
Q: WHY DOES MUSCLE MILK POWDER TASTE DIFFERENT THAN MUSCLE MILK READY-TO-DRINK?
A: We try our best to get the products to be as close as possible but processing methods for ready-to-drink products are different than those involved in powder production which results in differences in flavor and consistency.
Q: WHY DO THE POWDER MIXES NOT ALWAYS LOOK THE SAME?
A: There is some natural variability in protein characteristics, depending on the source of or method by which the proteins are isolated, that may lead to slight differences in appearance.
Q: CAN MUSCLE MILK POWDER BE MIXED WITH LIQUIDS OTHER THAN WATER?
A: Our products are designed to be mixed with water but you can mix the powders with other liquids.
Q: HOW LONG AFTER MIXING THE POWDER SHOULD I WAIT BEFORE DRINKING MUSCLE MILK?
A: It is best to drink soon after mixing. But, if this is not possible, keep the drink refrigerated and consume as soon as possible. If the product sits in the refrigerator for some time you may want to re-shake the product before drinking. We do not recommend storing refrigerated Muscle Milk for longer than 12 hours.
Q: DOES MUSCLE MILK CONTAIN VITAMIN K?
A: Vitamin K is not added to any CytoSport product. However, flavors containing cocoa powder will have trace amounts of vitamin K.
Q: WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO STORE MUSCLE MILK?
A: We recommend storing Muscle Milk at 40 to 80°F with a relative humidity of 60%. It is best to keep the container tightly closed.
